Reception Desk

Reception is the only piece of furniture a client sees first and your team uses second, and the two sides want opposite things. The client’s side is the shape, the tone the room opens on. Your side is three things: how tall the counter is, what is behind it in drawers and shelves, and above all how long it is. Measure the entrance first, then choose the front.

Narrow it down

Measure the doorway first

These four look nothing like each other, but choosing does not start with the look. Measure two things first: the width of the entrance, and the depth you can give the desk. Once you have those, usually only one or two of the four are still in play.

01

One person behind it

A single-operator studio, a unit in a mall, a room upstairs. There is space for one person behind the desk and no more. The UR-RAT01 has an 80 by 50 cm work surface inside the counter, which takes a computer and an appointment book, on a tapered body that is wider at the top. Anything bigger eats the walkway.

02

Two people, or a corner

Two people taking payments and greeting at once, or a desk that has to turn a corner. The UR-RAT03 is 229 cm long with a 104 cm return, so it sits against a wall as an L. The counter is 112 cm high, which means a client standing at it cannot see your screen or the paperwork on the desk. That height is not arbitrary: reception handles bookings, payments and client records all day, and a counter that hides them is worth more than one that looks good.

03

The front does the work

Once the size is settled, the front is what is left, and each of the three solves something different. Curved, on the UR-RAT09: vertical fluting with a brass band, in four colours, and a rounded corner that does not cut across the way people come in. Faceted, on the UR-RAT02: angled black panels that catch light differently from every side, depth without a light fitting. Stepped, on the UR-RAT03: white gloss, layered back.

Side by side

Every figure, side by side

Every figure below is measured off the factory drawing on the model’s own page. Where a drawing does not carry a figure, the cell is left empty rather than filled in. Scroll sideways on a phone.

Only the UR-RAT03 carries a full factory drawing today. On the other three the length and depth are made to your entrance rather than sold in a fixed size, so send the wall dimensions and we quote from a drawing.

Under the finish

Board, laminate, stone and steel

A reception desk takes more knocks than anything else in the room: bags on the counter, clients leaning on it, spilled coffee, shoes against the base. What it is built from decides how it looks three years in.

Layered board edge showing the high-density core used in UniRelax reception desks
Core

High-density fibreboard or heavy-duty plywood. Not particle board, which swells with moisture and warps.

Close-up of a sprayed and edged desk panel
Exterior finish

High-pressure laminate fused to the board. Harder than paint or standard melamine, so it holds up to scratches and edge chipping.

Stone slab used for reception desk countertops
Countertop

Tempered glass on transaction counters, heat treated so it is shatter resistant. Marble, granite or quartz slab where the drawing calls for stone.

Brushed metal banding on a reception desk front
Metal

Brushed stainless steel along the bottom 15 cm, where shoes and mop water do the damage. Brass banding on the fronts that call for it, as on UR-RAT09.

Frosted acrylic panel lit from behind on a reception desk
Lit panels

Frosted PMMA acrylic on the illuminated desks. It diffuses the LED evenly and does not yellow the way cheaper plastic does.

Reception desk drawer on full-extension steel slides
Hardware

Full-extension ball-bearing steel drawer slides, rated for a loaded cash drawer. Soft-close hinges on the doors.

Inside the factory

A reception desk is
a big flat panel problem

A reception desk is the largest flat surface in the shop. Any unevenness, any joint that is not flush, shows under the lights, and a gloss finish shows it most. So the craft on this range is not in the shape. It is in how flat the board is and how the finish is put on.

Who orders these

Who buys reception desks

The desk is the same. What changes is the size, the finish and who draws it.

One room

Opening a shop

One desk, sized to the entrance, in the same finish as the chairs. Reception is the one piece that has to match everything else.

Order it with the chairs and it comes off the same batch of material.

Multi-site

Chain or franchise

The same desk in every branch, in one finish. If the entrances differ, the same front can be made at a different length.

Tell us the branch count and we hold the finish across the batches.

Fit-out

Designer or contractor

Made to a drawing. Length, front style and finish can all change.

Send a plan or an elevation and we come back with a 3D render and a price.

Timeline

What happens after
you send the form

Six steps. Everything before production is measured in days; only the run itself takes weeks.

Step 01

Enquiry

Which models, how many, and the destination port.

Step 02

Quote

Back within 24 hours, with the certificate set for your market.

Step 03

3D render

The desk in your colour, with your logo, before a roll is cut.

Step 04

Sample

One unit for sign-off.

Step 05

Production

15 to 30 working days after sign-off.

Step 06

Loading

Boxed, documented, container booked on your terms.

Packed and loaded

It ships flat
and goes together on site

The body ships in panels with the corners protected, and gloss panels are wrapped separately because a gloss finish scratches in transit. The assembly sheet and the fittings are in the box.

After it arrives

What is covered,
and for how long

30Day

Hassle-free support

In the first 30 days after delivery, a quality issue is answered with a replacement or a fix, not a claims process.

90Day

Damage replacement

Free replacement or parts for functional or structural damage inside the first 90 days. This is what covers transit damage that only shows once it is in use.

1Year

Manufacturer warranty

Structure and manufacturing defects: motors, remote controllers and lifting systems, hydraulic systems, and the metal or wooden frame. Sewing workmanship and upholstery defects are covered for 30 days from delivery. After the year, spare parts and technical support stay available.

Wrinkling of vinyl on a seating surface is normal wear, not a defect. Every upholstered chair shows it with use. What is not covered is listed in full on the warranty policy page.

Questions

Before you send
the enquiry

How long a desk do I need?

Measure the entrance first. If one person works behind it, an 80 cm work surface is enough. If two people take payments and greet at once, or the desk turns a corner, look at 229 cm with a return. A desk that is too big is worse than one that is too small, because it takes the walkway with it.

Why 112 cm high?

Because a client standing at the counter cannot see over it. Reception handles bookings, payments and client records all day, and at 112 cm none of that is on show. Most desks are 100 to 105 cm, which hides nothing from someone standing.

Can the length be changed?

Yes. The panels are cut here, so the same front style can be made longer or shorter. Send the wall dimensions and we quote from a drawing.

Which front for which room?

A dark room takes the faceted black front, which gives depth at the point people walk in without a light fitting. A light room takes the curved fluted front in cream or white. A wide entrance with two people behind it takes the stepped 229 cm desk.

What is the minimum order?

A single desk can be ordered as a sample. Beyond that, ask and we quote against your drawing. Reception desks are usually ordered with the chairs so the finishes come off one batch.
